Breaking Barriers for Women with Disabilities in Business and Trade.

On the 12th December 2024. Inclusive Skills Development Initiative (ISDI), in collaboration with JONAPWD and with the support of the MacArthur Foundation, hosted a groundbreaking One-Day Consortium themed:

“Fostering Strategic Partnerships for Inclusion of Women with Disabilities in Business and Trade: Policy and Practice of Inclusivity.”

This powerful event brought together trailblazers, policymakers, financial institutions, and women entrepreneurs with disabilities to tackle the barriers preventing equitable participation in Nigeria’s economic space.

Key Outcomes from the Event:

Empowering Mentorship: Participants were offered access to mentorship opportunities through vast networks, ensuring women with disabilities gain the guidance they need to thrive.

Leveraging Social Media: Attendees were encouraged to use platforms like Instagram and Facebook to showcase their businesses, build networks, and access global opportunities.

Accessible Financing: Financial institutions assured participants of financial support for viable and registered businesses, introducing tailored products to empower women entrepreneurs.

Policy Advocacy: The consortium emphasized the urgent implementation of the Disability Act, 2018, particularly the 5% employment quota and inclusive economic reforms.
